Firedrake

Music by: Blues Funeral
Lyrics by: Maurice Eggenschwiler

Washed up on a shore
Framed between yesterday and nowhere
A thousand bones maybe more
Speaking in abject silence

Stay close my child
We’ll brave this rain

Moonless sky overhead
Hearts heavy with dread for tomorrow
Do you envy the dead?
Gods cry when even Death feels sorrow

Sleep now my child
We’ll brave this pain

We wait for the dawn
But the dawn waits for no one

Yet here we stand
Holding fire
With the ash in my hand
My hope’s raised higher

The dreams of the past
Shall fade in a whisper
I want these embers to last
Even if I’m a drifter

We wait for the dawn
But the dawn waits for no one

Yet here we stand
On this trail
Though dust covers the land
You will prevail

A place you never knew
Now words on a page
Fear not my firedrake
You’ll bring sun to this Age

about

Blues Funeral Houston, Texas

Following a temporary hiatus for Sanctus Bellum in November of 2014, Sanctus Bellum members, Jan Kimmel, Cory Cousins, and Maurice

recruiting Gabe Katz on bass, and spent the next several
months writing.
This has culminated into a diverse array of proto-metal
and progressive rock very much steeped in a vision of the music from the 60’s and 70’s.
